Malala Yousafzai wears Santi Jewels to the 95th Academy Awards

On the occasion of the 95th Academy Awards, Malala Yousafzai, Girls’ education activist and Executive Producer of Oscar-nominated short film ’Stranger at the Gate’, wore Santi Jewels alongside a bespoke Ralph Lauren gown.

For the ceremony, Malala wore the 'Emerald Flower Ring', which is composed of four 17th century carved Colombian emeralds set with a portrait cut diamond on a platinum band. This exceptional one-of-a-kind ring is set with four early 17th century carved Columbian emeralds. Such high relief carvings of emeralds are incredibly rare, as there was a significant material loss in the process in order to achieve such a mesmerising three-dimensionality. Emeralds were cut and carved in such a way specifically by the order of the emperors, hence why their historical significance is so large. Some pieces could still be found set in important jewels. The beauty of these old emeralds is brought to life in a very contemporary way with a modern flat diamond set in the centre. This ring is a beautiful artwork which brings together the history of jewellery making from the Mughal era and brings the attention to the timelessness of the design with its elegant and modern setting.
For the Vanity Fair after party, Malala completed her stunning second look with Santi's half chevron earrings. These feature round diamonds surrounded by a three dimensional, negative space pattern.
